All future Blogs will be posted on the 1st and 3rd week of every month (give or take a day). *Also in the event of any significant swell I will post the week of that swell. Although the blog is now bi-weekly, I'm certainly
not gonna pass up a decent swell. So while it's basically going to be every other week, I left it open for some wiggle room.



CELTICS WIN 18th CHAMPIONSHIP. FIRST SWS. BEN GRAVY VISITS CINNAMON RAINBOWS. FATHER'S DAY. RIP TAMAYO PERRY.

THE CELTICS ARE THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE NBA.

Monday June 17th, 2024 The BOSTON CELTICS won their 18th Championship. And they have won more NBA championships than any other team in the NBA. And by doing so, they have put Boston/New England in a very envious place to live if you're a sports fan.

Celtics have won 18 NBA Championships, The Bruins have won 9 NHL Championships, The New England Patriots have won 6 NFL Championships, and the Red Sox have won 9 MLB Championships. The New England Revolution have won two titles just not a world MSL title yet.
I think that covers all the main sports in New England.



And that Celtics Game 5? Man there was never a doubt from the opening tip off to the closing seconds. They had it all going on that night. Which leads one to believe that maybe, just maybe they let the MAVS have game 4. Hear me out here. How else do you explain them losing by almost 40 points? Here's what I think went down. I mean they were up 3 games to none. Had they won in Dallas? There would not have been the total and complete euphoria that we all witnessed back home in Boston.

Nope. Not even close. So they threw the MAVS a bone and let them win.

And I'll tell you right now, I have no problem with that. None. Zero. Zilch.
And I have no problem with this young man (below) being named coach of the year. Joe Mazzulla. He's taken some serious flak from individuals who have no idea what the hell they are talking about. Typically, I would be one of those people. But I knew better and kept my mouth shut. But I do want to say that he did one hell of a job coaching this team to an incredible run through the Play-Offs. Just a super job coach.

I admit, I don't watch every game like I do the Patriots. I am without question, a fair weather fan. I don't have any Celtics bling or clothing. I have to pull out of my closet a few green tee shirts to watch the games. And those green items of clothing are military green. Not Celtics green. I am however, a fan once the play-offs begin. Like (I'm assuming) a lot of you. I'm all in during the play-offs as I am with Hockey and baseball.



You did a great job Coach Mazzulla. Now I hope they pay you.



And this guy? Ex coach Brad Stevens now Celtics GM went out and spent some of the owners money and put together a team that gelled and knew how to win as a team. Tatum, Brown, Holiday, Derrick White, Porzingas, Horford, and Pritchard. But make no mistake about it, they all contributed to the team winning. Every player who stepped out onto the floor was part of this winning team. No question about it.



The dynamic duo of Tatum and Brown was amazing to watch.
They played 107 play-off games together. I admit I don't know much about the other NBAS teams, but from what I hear and I have read, it seems like the Celtics could very easily find themselves with banner number 19 and 20 if they kept this same line-up together. But again, I don't know enough about the game. But as a fan, I was impressed.

Ed O'Connell was one of the most loved surf photographers in New England. A US ARMY Vietnam Veteran who saved the lives of so many ARMY Grunts in Nam in 68-69 as a Medic on board those Dust Off Hueys. He was a close and dear friend of mine.

When he passed on July 1st, 2014 I swore I'd keep his memory and legacy alive by giving him this weekly corner. He loved surfing and he loved taking photos of all the surfers. Not just those who could really stand out. He shot every one. As long as I shall live and breathe the salt air, there will be a corner dedicated to Ed.

FATHER'S DAY JUNE 16th, 2024



I had a great Father's Day. Grilling and chilling with my "Grandchillin." That's what I call them.



Love these kids of Gabby and Brent.



Then Noelle and Pete dropped by with youngest Grandchillin Malia. And along with Max and Jacquie, Cory, Pete, Noelle, Gabby, Brent, Avery, Brylee, and Reighlynn I had a wonderful father's day. I hope all you dads had a great day too.



And the dad with the most kids and grandkids...Patch. Cory bought him his own pillow. Here he is sleeping on his pillow. Patch is a great dog. He's going to be 14 in September. I'm praying that he lives to be 15. All of our other short hairs passed away at 13. But Patch is in way better shape than those dogs. I think he can do it. In fact, I'm banking on it.

Saturday 6-15-24 Ben Gravy Dropped by Cinnamon Rainbows For a Meet and Greet.



There's nobody doing what Ben Gravy does out there in our Liquid World Of Surfing. Ben is unique in every sense of the word. I told him, "In this jaded world we all live in, you make people stop and look. And more importantly, you make us all laugh and smile."FOR THE DREAM BEN!"

We had to shut it all down early because of the threat of thunder and lightning. Everyone was safely escorted off the beach and nobody got hurt.


The book that I have been writing the last 100 years or so. It's looking more and more like the book will be out long after I hit my 20th Year Anniversary of this Blog. And that will be double the reason to celebrate. BOOK and BLOG.

And YES, there will be a book signing. And I will let you all know in advance, where and when. The book will be available in both hard cover and soft cover on AMAZON, BARNES & NOBLE, INGRAM, GOOGLE BOOKS, and KOBO PUBLISHING.

Most of my close friends have heard some of these stories first hand. But trust me, with over 100 stories, there's a handful that none of you have ever heard. It's true. Be patient my friends. The story of the skateboard is in my book. It's all coming in July/August of 2024.

I know that I am no saint. In fact, I am far from it. But I can honestly say, that I have never dated a woman that was 48 years younger than me. I mean come on Bill. This is like Jeffrey Epstein stuff. Are you kidding me Bill? She's younger than your kids. What the hell could you be thinking? In this day and age, with sex abusing politicians like Trump, Clinton, and others of the same ilk.

Bill? How could you NOT think that this would come back and bite you in that pigskin ass of yours? And of course once Khaliddy heard about it, he was gonna find the two of you out there walking down the street while you're looking to buy her an ice cream cone or something. Bill Belichick you old Horn Toad, you should be ashamed of yourself.

And so my friends, please take advantage of this weekly photo shop of the mastermind who planned 9-11 and resulted in the deaths of 3,000 innocent civilians by KSM (Khalid Sheik Mohammed). *Note to self -must pick up a case of old Lingerie Football League VHS tapes at Home Depot this week.

PLEASE KEEP Karen Evans in your thoughts and prayers. Seen here with Cory and Kim at the beach. Karen is currently battling FTD (Frontotemporal Dementia) a result of damage to neurons in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. She's doing remarkably well in dealing with this condition. The Evans have been local icons here for as long as I can remember. All the Surf Families are in full support of Rick, Karen, Matt, Megan and Nick and baby Luka, and of course Mikel. Sending your positive thoughts and prayers to Karen and the family are welcome.

TAMAYO PERRY KILLED BY A TIGER SHARK WHILE SURFING ON OAHU ON SATURDAY JUNE 23rd 2014.
Pro surfer 49 yr old Tamayo Perry who has close ties to the Hampton seacoast area with the Nichols family, was killed on Saturday June 23rd, 2024 by a Tiger Shark while surfing off of Goat Island on Oahu, HI. More details to follow. Tamayo was married to Emilia a well refined bodyboarder, and his father Thomas is very close friends with Lenny Nichols. They go back a long way together. Suffice it to say, the whole world surfing community is in shock over this tragedy. But to have such close ties to the NH Seacoast seems surreal.

Tamayo was like a son to Lenny. And Tamayo was a mentor to Kainalu Nichols on how to surf Pipeline. All the Nichols girls Arlene, Nohea, Julia, and Hoku were very close with Tamayo's Ohana. I just read that Brian Nevins knew Tamayo and took some great photos of him. Read Brian's post on @nevinsphoto on Instagram. The whole North Shore is in shock as this is the first time a professional surfer has been killed by a shark. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tamayo Perry's entire Ohana.

I admit when I first saw the image of Jay Hammer I knew about the same image of me and I knew I had to make this cool photo. The photo on the top is of Jay Hammer from my super 8mm movie that I shot in 1980. The image on the bottom is me in Nova Scotia in 1980 and it was shot by Don Bowden in 1980. And yes it too was a super 8mm movie. Looking at these photos today, my back hurts. I could never do that today or I'd end up in traction in the ER.

I kept a daily Blog on my CATCH A WAVE FOR MOLLY surf campaign, when I surfed every single day for 365 consecutive days. Click on the Banner above to read entries of my daily journey. There's some really interesting and true experiences
that happened during that year. Some of which are to this day, unexplainable. Some are just mind blowing. But all true.

I started on July 26th, 2010 and ended on July 26th, 2011.
